Many stores offer savings and incentives for using a store credit card, but did you know Target offers a debit card with rewards? It’s called a REDcard and will save you 5% off your purchases every day in Target stores and on target.com. You also get free shipping on target.com. You can enroll your REDcard in their Take Charge of Education program, where they will donate 1% of your purchases to eligible K-12 schools. Plus you can earn additional 5% off coupons when you fill five prescriptions and pay with your REDcard. That’s on top of the every day 5% discount. Even though it is a debit card, you do need to fill out a credit application and provide a voided check so they can get your bank routing numbers. Some are for free items with no purchase required and the majority of them have expiration dates a week or two past your birthday, so you don’t have to try to use them all in one day or anything. Now for birthday freebies for kiddos! This is what I posted last March after my older son just celebrated his 6th birthday. I kept track of all the birthday freebies he received so that I could share them with you so you can sign your kids up for them, too. There’s still some places that offer a freebie with no purchase required (although the list shrinks each year). Some of the things we got last year did not come around again this year (Steak n Shake, Moe’s, Children’s Place, Olan Mills), but I found a few new ones, too (which I starred at the bottom). All You Magazine: A Great Source for Coupons

If you’re a couponer and don’t subscribe to All You magazine, you’re missing out! All You magazine is a great resources for coupons and is my favorite magazine for that reason. You may also enjoy their articles and tips on cooking, fashion, weight loss, decorating, crafts, being frugal, and more. All You usually has over $50 worth of coupons per issue – sometimes more or less.

The only way to buy All You magazine is on the rack at Wal-Mart or you can subscribe to it. There are several subscription options on Amazon.com, ranging from 6 months to two years. Right now, each subscription comes out to $1.66-$1.67 per issue. (Amazon’s prices are subject to change at any time.) The price on the rack at Wal-Mart fluctuates, but seems to typically be between $1.97 to $2.24, so subscription would be the best value. Go here to check it out on Amazon.

I have mentioned this a few times over the last three years on Fun and Frugal, but thought it would be a good time to repeat it for any new Fun and Frugal readers out there. Plus, since I have posted about this last, the program has grown. It used to only be available to residents in Tennessee, but now the program is available in over 1,300 communities across the U.S. and a couple other countries. In 2010, they distributed 7.1 million books!

Pictured above are many of the free books my boys have received in the mail since they were born! We have enjoyed reading these together numerous times. Tip: if you ever move, you will have to sign up again because the mail will not forward these.
