Here’s what’s coming up this week in the Cleveland/Chattanooga/Athens and surrounding areas (as well as some national events) for the week of August 30, 2010. - FREE Kids Meals are continuing through the month of August at the Cleveland Chick Fil-A! Every Tuesday is Family Night at the Cleveland Chick-fil-A from 5-8 pm. They have something fun for the family each Tuesday night such as a craft, family movie, magician, clown, etc. Bring the family for dinner and fun! This Tues. August 31 they are having a Family Movie! Limit 2 free kids meals per adult meal purchase, no other coupons or discounts allowed, *children must be present*. - Bring a Kraft singles wrapper to participating minor league baseball home games every Tuesday night through 9/7/10 and get BOGO tickets! Many teams are participating, including the Chattanooga Lookouts. Click here for more details and to search for a team near you.

Thursday, Sept. 2
- Every Thursday is Kiddie Day at Lake Winnepesaukah from 12-8 pm. Children 11 and younger will receive free gate admission (reg $5); family members ages 12 and older pay just $5 gate admission per person. All ages can purchase unlimited rides for only $18 per person (reg. $21). Cool off from the summer heat in the new, refreshing Chill Down Kidtown water & mist play area. Parking is always free. You can purchase individual ride tickets for $1 each (most rides are 2-5 tickets). Children under 2 are admitted free with paying adult, but must pay to ride. - The Chattanooga Market is open every Thursday evening from 4-7 pm at Miller Plaza from May 6 through September 30, 2010. They have a different theme each week. - Buy fresh fruits and vegetables from local Farmers at the 5 Points Market on Thursday afternoons in historic downtown Cleveland. Mainstreet Cleveland is organizing the weekly seasonal market that opens on Thursday, May 27 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Museum Center at 5ive Points. The 5 Points Market will continue each Thursday afternoon throughout the season. Local artists and crafters will feature a variety of items for sell. Entertainment and food will complete the family atmosphere. All area farmers and gardeners are invited to participate, spaces are free. - Free Nightfall Concert Series in Miller Plaza May 28 – Sept 24, 2010. This series brings around 2,500 people every Friday night and features international, national and regional talent. Nightfall continues to bring an eclectic mix of rock, blues, jazz, world music, funk, bluegrass and folk music to Downtown Chattanooga. Nightfall will keep its commitment to the local arts community by featuring Chattanooga musicians for each opening act, beginning at 7 pm, followed by performances by national and international talent at 8 pm. - Saturdays from 10-5 is the Chattanooga River Market in downtown Chattanooga at the Tennessee Aquarium Plaza. Enjoy arts, crafts, and free music.
- It’s the first Saturday of the month, which means it’s Pajama Day at the Cleveland Chick-fil-A! Come dressed in your PJ’s and receive a free chicken biscuit or 3-count chicken minis from 8:30-10:30 am! Sometimes they have cartoons for kids, a cow appearance, and spinning wheel with prizes!
- Also on the first Saturday of the month, Home Depot offers a free project for kids from 9 am – noon, designed for kids ages 5-12! Click here to see an example of the wooden football display they will be making this month. Call your local store for details.
- The 12 Goodwill stores in the Chattanooga area have 50% off everything in the store the first Saturday of every month. They open at 8:00 am for this special event and all 12 area stores participate. See a list at goodwillchatt.org/stores.html
- Enjoy free admission to the Museum Center at 5ive Points in downtown Cleveland the first Saturday of each month from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm.
Sunday, Sept. 5
- The seasonal Chattanooga Market is back! It features farm-fresh produce, meats and cheeses, fresh bread, arts & crafts from local artisans, family activities, and live music and admission is free. It’s open on Sundays at the First Tennessee Pavillion located at 1826 Carter Street next to Finley Stadium from 11 am – 4 pm April 25 through December 5, 2010. - Enjoy free admission (and sometimes free crafts and activities, too) at the Hunter Museum of American Art in downtown Chattanooga the first Sunday of each month from 12-5 pm.
- Don’t miss the 4th Annual WATER DAY at Grace Assembly of God, located at 1976 Westland Drive, Cleveland, TN 37311. Festivities begin at 2:30pm. 100-foot water slides, inflatable bouncers, cotton candy, icees, prizes, music, food and fun – and the BEST part – it’s ALL FREE!!!!!!!! - Through 9/30/10 — Free Scavenger Hunt in the Bluff View Art District in downtown Chattanooga. Be a true adventurer and explore all the District’s nooks and crannies to learn about the arts, architecture, gardening and cooking techniques that make this one of the most fascinating destinations in Chattanooga. This specially-designed scavenger hunt allows children of all ages to find out more about the District’s history and meet the experts who create this unique atmosphere. Pick up your “Scavenger Map” at Rembrandt’s Coffee House, and once you’ve solved the hunt’s mysteries, return to Rembrandt’s for your sweet reward! Participation limited to daylight hours.

The 3rd annual Taste of Hamilton Place will take place on Sunday, September 18, 2011, from 7-9 p.m., inside Hamilton Place Mall. All proceeds will benefit The Center for Childhood Cancer at Children’s Hospital.
Ticket holders will meet chefs and sample a variety of signature dishes from area restaurants and enjoy musical entertainment as they stroll from station to station.
Discount ticket prices are $35 adults and $10 for children 5-12 and will go on sale August 1.
All monies raised support a variety of therapy programs and activities including arts and music at the region’s only comprehensive Center for Childhood Cancer which treats children with the highest level of care, allowing local families to stay closer to home.
