Fun and Frugal

Just wanted to share some free stuff I got at Bi-Lo after coupons tonight.  I didn’t get a chance to get to the store earlier in order to post this before the weekly sale ended.  (Their sales run Wednesday through Tuesday.)

• Nivea body wash on sale $3.99 (reg. $5.99) less $4 coupon I got from a large paper out of town recently = free  (Sorry, I think the local Nivea body wash coupon was only for $1 or $2.  If you’re ever in a big city on a Sunday, buy a newspaper!  In general, the bigger the city, the more coupons and more high-dollar coupons.)
• Oxy Facewash and shave cream on clearance for $1.00/ea (found them in a buggy by the registers full of marked down stuff) less $1.00 coupon from a recent Sunday paper insert = free
• Dawn dish detergent on sale for $1.00 (reg. $1.47) less $1 coupon from recent P&G home mailer = free
• Puffs Plus with lotion on sale for $1.00 (reg $1.69) less Vocal Point home mailer coupons for $1 off and $.50 off (which doubled to $1 since Bi-Lo doubles coupons up to $.50).  Vocal Point periodically sends out free samples and high value coupons to its members.  You can join for free at VocalPoint.com.  I recently got a full-sized bottle of Pantene Nature Fusion shampoo in the mail from Vocal Point.

Here are some things I got for half-off tonight.  Bi-Lo has different things on sale BOGO (Buy One Get One Free) every week.  You do not have to buy two to get the sale price.  Each one will ring up half-price with your Bi-Lo card.  Often those of us who coupon get in the mind-set (including myself sometimes) that we won’t buy something unless it is a) on sale and b) we have a coupon to go with it on sale.  But, remember, getting something half-off even without a coupon is still a good deal, especially if it’s something your family uses a lot.  Below are some things I got on sale BOGO that our family uses a lot and I didn’t have any coupons.  Coupons always make the deal sweeter if you have them.

• Hefty garbage bags BOGO $5.49 ($2.74/ea)
• All detergent BOGO $5.69 ($2.84/ea)
• White House apple juice BOGO $2.58 ($1.29/ea)
• White House apple sauce 6-pack BOGO $2.28 ($1.15/ea)
