Cooke’s Food Store and Junior Auxiliary is sponsoring a community food drive to help restock the shelves of The Caring Place March 1 through 14. All food donations can be dropped off in the parking lot at Cooke’s during designated hours or dropped off anytime inside the store.
Drive-by, drop-off times are Mondays through Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 4 p.m.
Barrels for food drop off will also be located at Bender Reality, Cafe Roma, Deli Boys and Mattress Expo.
All donations are welcome but the most needed foods are peanut butter, canned vegetables, canned meats, pasta and pasta sauce, according to Reba Terry, executive director of The Caring Place.
At the end of the drive all food donations collected between March 1-14 will be weighed and Cooke’s Food will match up to 5,000 lbs. in weight of food donations.
