Never a dull moment in October…
Friday, Oct. 23

  • 21st Annual YMCA Cleveland Fall Festival 6:30-8:30 pm. Everything is free: food, drink from Bi-Lo, candy, door prizes including $50 Bi-Lo card drawing, 3 inflatable fun centers, toddler activities, face painting, costume contest for kids 0-12 years old, hayrides on a horse-drawn wagon, storytellers, and more!   • (**UPDATE** DUE TO THE RAINY WEATHER FORECAST, THE TCPS FALL FESTIVAL HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FRI OCT 30 FROM 5-9 PM**) Tennessee Christian Preparatory School Fall Festival 5-9 pm at the school on N. Lee Hwy in Cleveland. The theme this year is “Under the TCPS Big Top” and the main attraction will be tethered Hot Air Balloon rides. They will also have carnival games, live and silent auction, inflatables, pony and carriage rides, food, and much more. Admission is free and tickets will be accepted for all games and food. Tickets are available for advance purchase by calling the school at 559-8939. There is also a raffle for the opportunity to win a hot air balloon adventure trip. On Saturday the 24th the winner will receive a two-hour adventure ride for 4 people. Raffle tickets are $25 each or 5 for $100. Raffle tickets can be purchased from the school or at the festival. Tickets for the tethered hot air balloon rides should be purchased in advance due to limited availability.
  • Boo in the Zoo is Oct. 23, 24, 30, & 31 at the Chattanooga Zoo. Costume contests, candy, crafts, games. Zoo members get 50% off discounted admission to this event, but I’m afraid I don’t know what it costs. Does anyone know?
  • Disney on Ice will be at the UTC Arena Oct. 21-25! Fun and Frugal readers can get 4 tickets for $40 for the Friday 7pm, Saturday 11am, and Saturday 7pm shows. Discount is not available on Rinkside or VIP seating. Use code SQUIRT when ordering here or call 423.266.6627.
  • Family Fun Night at The Creative Discovery Museum’s Science Theatre is held the fourth Friday of the month. The theme Oct. 23 is Freaky Fake-Outs. The fun begins at 6:30 p.m. and ends at 8:30 pm. Cost is $9 per child over age 4 and $7 for Creative Discovery Museum members. (Members remember to bring your card for the discount). Parents are admitted free. Call (423) 875-8522 to reserve your spot for this great night of family fun. The Science Theatre is located in the back of North Gate Mall in Hixson, TN.  This will be the last Fourth Friday Family Fun Night of the year since they don’t have them in Nov. or Dec. due to the holidays.

Saturday, Oct. 24

  • Visit The River Maze in Benton, TN! Saturday hours are 11 am- 9 pm. Tickets are $7 for kids 4-12 and $9 for adults. This price includes all mazes, hayride, farm animals, barnyard croquet, one free cow train ride and one free shot on the corn cannon. Extra cost for Pumpkins and Face Painting.     Halloween is probably one of my son’s favorite moments of the season to go off trick or treating accompanied by their good friends and subsequently they all gather at someone’s apartment to eat and readily share their sweets.
