Can you believe it’s October already? Lots of weekend events this month. Here’s what’s on tap for this weekend, Oct. 2-4:
Friday, Oct. 2
- The Embassy Couples Night Out at Lee University from 7-9 pm. Click here for more details and for RSVP info, which is due by 2:00 PM Oct. 2.
Saturday, Oct. 3
- Visit The River Maze in Benton, TN! Saturday hours are 11 am- 9 pm. Tickets are $7 for kids 4-12 and $9 for adults. This price includes all mazes, hayride, farm animals, barnyard croquet, one free cow train ride and one free shot on the corn cannon. Extra cost for Pumpkins and Face Painting. - It’s the first Saturday of the month, which means it’s Pajama Day at the Cleveland Chick-fil-A! Come dressed in your PJ’s and receive a free chicken biscuit or 3-count chicken minis from 8:30-10:30 am!
- Also on the first Saturday of the month, Home Depot offers a free project for kids! Call your local store for details.
- The Goodwill stores in Hixson and Cleveland have 50% off everything in the store the first Saturday of every month. Not sure if this is the same for every Goodwill.
- Enjoy free admission to the Museum Center at 5ive Points in downtown Cleveland the first Saturday of each month from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm.
- Decatur, TN is having their Annual Fall Festival Oct. 3. It begins at noon at Rhea County High School. I think tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students.
- The 42nd Annual Nillie Bipper Creative Arts Festival will be at the Tri-State Exhibition Center off Exit 20 in Cleveland off I-75 from 10 am – 5 pm on Oct. 3 & 4. General admission $5; age 60 and up $4; kids under age 12 free. Click here for more info. (Thanks for the reminder, Gale!)
- Free Admission at the Chattanooga Zoo for Go!Fest Oct. 3. From chattzoo.org: Visitors of all abilities will go wild for a free day at the Chattanooga Zoo during the fifth annual Go!Fest celebration. Animal attractions and interactions abound, but breaking boundaries and increasing disability awareness are at the heart of Go!Fest, which also will showcase activities, entertainment and information from various social service agencies and other civic-minded groups, businesses, and institutions.For more information, visit – gofestchattanooga.org.
- Fall Hodgepodge at Signal Mountain Community Center. It’s Signal Mountain ’s premier arts and crafts show. The event features over 40 crafters from throughout the Southeast. The show will include wood crafts, fine art, handcrafted clay figures and ornaments, beadery, floral arrangements, candles, glasswork, and hand sewn items. Concessions will be available. Not sure of admission fee if any.
- Three Sisters Bluegrass Festival at Ross’s Landing in Chattanooga. Free! Oct. 3 and 4. Click here for more info.
Sunday, Oct. 4
- The Chattanooga Market is open every Sunday from 11-4 with free admission through 12/7/09. They have local produce, crafters, vendors, musical entertainment, and a different theme each week. Visit chattanoogamarket.com for more info.

Here’s a couple reminders of things to register for next weekend:
Friday, Oct. 9
- Jenny Martin from Southern Savers is coming to First Baptist Church Cleveland for a Coupon Town Hall. Visit vendor booths starting at 5:30 pm and guest speaker begins at 7:00 pm. Saturday, Oct. 10
- Misty Willhoit is teaching a Coupon Workshop in Chattanooga from 9-11 am at Country Place Restaurant on Shallowford Rd. Registration is $20.00 and not only includes the workshop, but also a notebook to help organize your coupons, the latest Sunday newspaper, and copy of All You magazine as well. The River Maze sounds like great fun. They have a haunted corn maze here, but I’ve always been a little leery of bringing my now 5 year old. Nightmare scenario: she tears down a row and 20 minutes later we’re still trying to figure out where the crying is coming from.
The River Maze sounds like much more fun, hehe.

We will have plenty of BMX families coming to visit and think that the River Maze is the perfect place to stop off and enjoy some more family fun!!

The fall festival in Decatur is at the Meigs County High School football stadium. Admission to the festival is free, but admission is charged for a concert later in the day.
