Reminder: Town Hall Coupon Event Fri. Oct. 9 at First Baptist Cleveland

Posted on 07 October 2009 by admin   Print Print

This is going to be a big event!  Over 500 people have already pre-registered to attend the Town Hall Coupon Event on First Baptist’s website.  Pre-registration on the website has closed, but if you missed it don’t fret, you can still register at the door. :-)

Everyone who has pre-registered will need to check-in at the registration tables in the Welcome Center (go through the glass doors at the covered drive where the “Operation Christmas Child” banner is hanging.)  The FIRST 500 guests to check in will receive a goody bag with a few samples and coupons! Doors open at 5:30 PM.  Come browse some vendor booths from 5:30-7:00 PM in “The Backyard” (children’s church room behind the Welcome Center inside).  Blue Ribbon Foods will have a booth and will be grilling some organic chicken breasts and handing out samples.  I’ll be telling you more about why my family buys Blue Ribbon meats soon on F&F. Stop by their booth and tell them Gloria from Funandfrugal.com sent you and they will arrange to give you a free cooler bag with 2 pork chops, 2 hamburger steak patties, and 2 chicken breasts, all organic, for you to try at home.

Please remember and respect that no children are allowed at this event so that everyone gets the most out of the evening.  If you are coming from out of town, click here for directions to First Baptist Church in downtown Cleveland, TN.

Our guest speaker, Jenny Martin from SouthernSavers.com, will begin at 7:00 PM in the sanctuary.  She will answer questions at the end.  The Q & A is planned to begin at 8:30.  She normally speaks 2 + hours so we are hoping to get as much in as possible.  Regardless if you are a beginner or seasoned couponer there is something you will learn from Jenny.  We are so glad to be having Jenny as our guest and feel honored she would give of her time to come share with us! She wants to help us learn and also remember coupon ethics as we venture to save our family LOTS of money!  If you’re new to couponing and don’t know who Jenny Martin is, here is some info:

Jenny is a stay-at-home mother of three girls in Columbia, SC and started couponing two and a half years ago.  She went from spending $600-$800 per month to $250 per month for all of their grocery and household expenses (including food, personal care, cleaning supplies, paper goods, and diapers!)  She started SouthernSavers.com to share completed grocery lists for free since many sites were charging and folks who need coupons just can’t handle an added expense.  SouthernSavers.com quickly grew and had over 1.2 million visitors last month and average 50,000-60,000 a day!  Jenny says SouthernSavers.com is free for anyone to use and will always stay that way.  She covers 11 different stores in the southeast with lists of what is on sale each week matched with any coupons that are available.

Want to help bless others?  Here are some ways you can help at the Town Hall Coupon Event:

  1. Bring a pantry item to be donated to a local food bank.
  2. Bring a 4-pack of toilet paper to be donated to the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home, which is in need of toilet paper.  (Thanks, Denise for the tip.)
  3. Bring your recently expired coupons to be donated to the military, where they can use expired coupons.  Click here to read more on this.  You will find a table in the Vendor area for expired coupons.  There will also be notecards for you to write a note to be included in the packages of coupons!  Take a moment to let them know we appreciate their service to our country!
  4. Bring a card or note and if you feel lead, cash or a gift card to put in the Blessings Basket to be given to Jenny Martin.  She is traveling all the way from Columbia, SC and speaking at no charge and we would like to show her how grateful Bradley County is for her coming and for all her hard work on SouthernSavers.com, which many of us have been fans for while and in turn have saved a lot of grocery money.  Jenny’s favorite stores are CVS and Publix if you would like to get a small gift card from those stores.

I hope you will be able to come!  I’ll be helping at the Registration tables.  I will have some 4-inch round Funandfrugal.com car window decals/bumper stickers FREE for anyone asks and will put it on their car! Just come find me and ask for one.

    Jenny,

Thanks, for your website southernsavers. We have been using for about 10 months. I attended your class at Charleston Air Base on 7-31-2010 and gained a lot new information. My wife was unable to attend, so see sent me. You know how that goes! We do couponing together. I am retired disabled Air Force Vet.and wife has been stay at home wife-mother for most our 24 years together. We have save from $150 to $250 each month and that is no kidding. I especially liked the way you explained that we should not be greedy and save items for others. I am one of many that you have helped. Others may not write but many of our friends feel the way.

God Bless you and your family
    Phil & Kim Maynor
