On a personal note, I’m very excited to share this info with you as one of the female artists on this tour is my long-time close friend and incredibly-talented singer/songwriter, Morgan (Harris) Bracy, formerly of Cleveland. They will be performing in Chattanooga Friday, September 11, at The North Chatt Cat from 8-11 p.m. They will also be in Knoxville, Nashville, and Bristol, Tennessee, as well as Asheville, NC. Click here for dates and locations. I hope you can come out to see them!
Four Female Artist/ Writers Combine Their Musical Styles Into a Spectrum of Sound
Nashville, TN – The Mascara Tour is making its way through the Southeast cities of Knoxville, Johnson City, Bristol, Chattanooga, and Nashville, TN, and Asheville, N.C., September 8 through 12, 2009. The tour will showcase four female artist/writers, combining their musical styles of jazz, pop, folk, and country into a two-hour spectrum of acoustic sound. Those artists are none other than Roxie Randle, Treva Blomquist, Morgan Bracy, and Rachel Pearl – all independent artist from across the country, now based in Nashville, TN.
Influenced by a wide range of artists including Amy Grant and Trisha Yearwood, Roxie Randle’s sound is somewhere between Country and Americana. Unsigned The Magazine describes her voice as “mature and sultry in a totally beautiful way.” Her two independent albums have been called “perfectly paced and executed,” “smart and refreshing” and “organic.” She has opened for Terri Clark, Mel Tillis and Ricochet, and performed on stage with Shania Twain. In 2008, she was given the title of “Top Female Demo-Singer” by DemoSinger.com.
From Chehalis, Washington, a city just south of Seattle, Treva Blomquist came to music city with small town dreams and homegrown values. Now a Kerrville Folk Festival Finalist and a Riverbluff Performing Songwriter Grand Prize Winner, her extraordinary talent has warmed ears that have long since been numbed by over-exposure to singer/songwriters. Critics have described her music as “deep”, “starkly beautiful”, and “exceptionally listenable”.
Morgan Bracy’s music has been dubbed “folk for modern ears”, smart pop, and folk pop with a hint of country, but the one constant, transcending description, is it’s expressive nature. Maverick Magazine named her “One of Nashville’s Finest”. The 2009 Indie International Songwriting Contest First Place Winner has received nods for her writing with songs on hold by Reba McEntire and Universal Music Group. She’s a 2006 Kerrville Folk Festival Finalist, and she’s currently in the studio working on her second album.
American Idol Magazine named Rachel Pearl a “Top Emerging Artist”. Her jazz is a mingling of old and new. From comparisons to classics like Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday to newbies Regina Spektor and Imogen Heap, Pearl’s chemistry with the audience is that of a true artist. She has been awarded Honorable Mention in Billboard’s 14th Annual List, and she was a Semi-Finalist in Discmakers 2007 Independent Music World Series.
The Mascara Tour will be in Chattanooga on (Friday, September 11, at The North Chatt Cat from 8-11 p.m. There is a $5 suggested donation. For more information please visit myspace.com/themascaratour.
