Bi-Lo Trip July 31: Saved 86%

This may have been my best cereal trip ever!  Don’t pay $4 for a box of cereal again!  Wait until it’s on sale and stock up.  Read below, then run over to Bi-Lo before the sale ends Tuesday, Aug. 4!  Thanks, Jamie from Chattanooga Cheapskate for letting me know about the FREE cereal you can get at Bi-Lo!  My total before savings was $56.73 and my out of pocket (OOP) cost was only $9.37 for everything pictured above, which is about 86% savings!  Plus, I got a catlina for $1 off my next purchase at Bi-Lo and a rebate form catalina for a $10 Kellogg’s/Bi-Lo Back to School Cash Rewards Card!  So if you consider that I’m getting $11 back, then I basically got $56.73 worth of groceries for FREE!  Here’s the breakdown:

  • The following Kellogg’s cereals are on sale BOGO (Buy-One-Get-One-Free): Froot Loops ($3.69), Rice Krispies ($3.36), Frosted Flakes ($3.98), and Frosted Mini Wheats ($3.85).  To get the cereal for free, you have to buy the specially-marked boxes that say “$5 Savings Inside” as pictured above.  Before you purchase them, open the box and pull out the coupons.  There are 5 coupons in each box and one of the coupons will be for $1 off a certain Kellogg’s cereal (the kind you are buying).  All of the ones I bought were easy to find the coupons b/c they were down beside the bag of cereal, except for the Froot Loops, I actually had to open the cereal bag to get those out.  I’m sure it goes without saying…if you open a box, please be a good steward and buy it.  (The same goes with peelies – they are only intended for the person who buys the product.)   If you’re fortunate enough to be able to shop at the Bi-Lo’s in Cleveland , Ooltewah, or East Brainerd in TN (see Jamie’s notes on calling several Bi-Lo’s to ask), you can stack the Kellogg’s manufacturer coupons with these $1/1 FLIPS (Food Lion Internet Printables) good for any Kellogg’s cereal, exp 8/4/09.  (Thanks, Southern Savers!)  Remember, you do not have to buy an even amount of BOGO’s – each one will ring up half-price.  To take advantage of two different $10 Kellogg’s rebates, buy 10 boxes so you can do the Kellogg’s Fuel for School rebate.  If you buy 8 (or more boxes) a catalina will print for you to send off for a Kellogg’s Bi-Lo Back to School Cash Rewards card.  Chattanooga Cheapskate has the details here.  I already mailed off my Fuel for School rebate from my Publix trip July 25.
  • Peter Pan peanut butter – BOGO at $2.70 – less $.50 printable (print twice), which doubled to $1.00 = $.35/ea.  There is also a $1/1 coupon in the May issue of All You magazine.  And the August All You issue has a coupon for a free box of Crayola 24 crayons when you buy any two Peter Pan peanut butters.  ConAgra (who owns Peter Pan) has a promotion going on at Bi-Lo, where you buy $5 or more in certain Con Agra products (including Peter Pan – details here), then you will get a cataline for $1 off your next purchase at Bi-Lo.  I only bought two Peter Pan peanut butters and it printed my coupon.  I guess it counts the regular price, not the sale price.
  • Yoplait Yogurts on sale 20 for $10 or $.50 each – less $.50/6 printable (print twice), which doubled to $1.00 = $.33/ea.
  • Yoplait Kids 6-pack (not on sale, but we needed) $2.83 less $.40 printable (which doubles to $.80) = $2.03
  • (Not pictcured) 1 Store brand version of Juicy Juice on sale $2.00 (reg. $2.48)
  • You can see all the sale items with coupon match-ups here at Southern Savers.  This week’s sales end Tuesday, Aug. 4.

Please remember that when using FLIPS at other stores, they should be used only under the same intetions as they would at Food Lion. It clearly states on the FLIP “limit one per customer, per day.” This applies at Publix and BiLo also.

Thank you for bringing that to my attention. You are correct. I thought FLIPS said, “limit one print per day” but I took a closer look after you mentioned this and I should have looked at it closer. This is still a great buy even if you use just one FLIP. I agree with Jamie’s revised post here: http://chattanoogacheapskate.com/2009/07/31/%E2%9C%B72%E2%9C%B7-hot-bi-lo-moneymakers/
