Fun Things to Do This Summer

There are lots of fun things the whole family can do this summer, many of which are free!  Here’s some ideas:

  1. Kids Bowl Free
  2. ChattanoogaCheapskate has a great post here with free movie listing at The Rave in Chattanooga among other free and cheap activities this summer.
  3. Riverbend Festival is June 5-13 in downtown Chattanooga.  Faith & Family night is Tuesday, June 9 featuring Steven Curtis Chapman.  Admission pins are $28 at MapCo Marts until June 4 and then $37 at the gate.  One night wrist-bands are $23.  Kids 10 and under are free.  Visit Riverbendfestival.com for more info.  You can WIN two FREE pins at TradeinTennessee.com just by posting any classified ad on their site (which is free to do!)  The winner will be drawn Friday, June 5.  *Be sure to stop by the Blush Magazine booth at Riverbend!*
  4. The Chattanooga Market is open every Sunday from 11-4 with free admission.  They have local produce, crafters, vendors, musical entertainment, and a different theme each week.  Visit chattanoogamarket.com for more info.
  5. Night Fall is a free concert series at Miller Plaza in downtown Chattanooga every Friday night from May 22 – Sept 25 beginning at 7 pm.  Click here for more info.
  6. July 11, 18, and 25, you can watch a free family movie outdoors at Coolidge Park (downtown Chattanooga) at sundown.  Admission is free.  Concessions will be available to purchase.  Visit firstthings.org for more info.  Coolidge Park is also a great place for kids in the summer.  They can play in the water fountains for free!  There is a carousel nearby for a fee.  Don’t forget parking money.

    For pre-k and kindergartners Tumble-pro Gymnastics is doing a summer reading program the week of June 15th. They are using teen mentors from BICC to help with reading and using the fun of tumbling to get kids excited about reading. I’ve already signed my 4 year old up!

    Kids Time at Hamilton County Parks

    Hamilton County Parks will host a free, weekly “Kids Time” every Thursday, from 10am – 12 Noon at Chester Frost Park, from June 11th through July 23rd, for grade school children ages 5 and up. A new activity each week will include presentations on farming, endangered species, and swap creatures, as well as a nature walk, an ice cream making session.
