Fun Times and Frugal Finds During Labor Day Weekend

I had a great Labor Day weekend spending time with my kids and husband and scored some great deals, too. I thought I’d share some of them with you. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary with dinner at the Bald Headed Bistro Saturday night. (An expensive restaurant we frequent about oh, once a year.) I printed and brought a coupon for a free dessert, but didn’t need it because they brought us a free one in honor of our anniversary. Then we used our free movie tickets at the Premiere Theatre that I got from purchasing some Axe products at Walgreens a couple weeks ago. I used part of my free $25 Walgreens gift card (at the Grand Opening Special for transferring a new Rx) to pay for my Axe products, so it cost me nothing out of pocket. Here’s some things I got for free or cheap Sat. Aug. 30 at Walgreens, CVS, and Wal-Mart:
I got $27.73 worth of products and paid only $0.90 out of pocket and earned $4 ECB’s to use next time. Here’s what I did:
CVS panty liners-$2.89 less coupon for $2 off any CVS panty liners 40 ct or greater that printed on my receipt on my last visit.
Colgate Max Fresh toothpaste -$2.99 less $1.50 coupon from All You magazine (found at Wal-Mart) plus earned $2 in ECB’s
Atkins Bar-regularly $1.69, but on sale for $1.00 less $1.00 coupon from recent insert
Mars Fun Size Candy-regularly $1.50, but on sale for $1.00
Suave body wash-regularly $2.79, but on sale for $2.00 less two BOGO coupons from recent insert, plus earned $2 EBC’s
I also used a $2/$10 CVS coupon (no longer available) and $11.98 in ECB’s I had earned from a previous trip, so my net out of pocket cost was only $0.90!
Read Fiancial Diva’s post on all the CVS and Walgreens Deals for 8/31-9/6 for more tips.
I got another free Glade Air Fabric & Air odor eliminator to go along with the other two I got for free three weeks ago that I posted about on Aug. 9 by using a $1.50 coupon combined with the $1.50 Easy Saver coupon. I can’t remember where I got my manufacturer coupon – either a recent insert or All You magazine, but you can get a $1.00 printable one from Right at Home.
I got some great deals at Wal-Mart including a free product that I didn’t even know was free until I got home and studied my receipt. Here’s the break down:
Macaroni Grill Dinner Kit (New, by the mac & cheese)-regularly $3.74, but it rang up for only $1.00 less $1.00 coupon = FREE! I don’t recall seeing it labeled for $1.00 at the store or I would have gotten more!
Cascade Rinse Aid-$3.13 less coupon for free Cascade Rinse Aid = FREE! Click here to read Freebies4Mom’s post on how to get your free Cascade Rinse Aid coupon by mail.
Bic White Out Exact Liner-regularly $2.37, but marked down to $.99 less $.50 coupon = $.49! I found it in the office supply section behind the greeting cards at the north Cleveland Wal-Mart.
South Beach frozen pizzas-$2.72 less $2.00 coupon = $.72/each! When you go to the link to print the $2.00 off South Beach pizza coupon, go ahead and print the $2.00 off South Beach drink mix coupon because they will be free after coupon at Wal-Mart. I already got mine a few weeks ago. Remember to print those coupons twice each by hitting the back/refresh button.
On Labor Day, my family enjoyed some free Chicken strips from Chick-fil-A for wearing a football logo! Did you get your free chicken strips?

Update: I was hoping to get more free Macaroni Grill Dinner Kits today with coupons while I was at the South Wat-Mart, but when I checked the price at the self-price-checker thing, they all scanned $3.74 instead of $1.00.
I’m guessing when it rang up $1.00 the other day it was a mistake and they have since fixed it. Oh well.
